Pugh to Continue Neighborhood Canvassing in Southwest and Northwest Detroit Today at 1:15 p.m.
Detroit MI - Yesterday, City Council President Charles Pugh launched Neighborhood Canvassing on the east side of Detroit. He will continue Neighborhood Canvassing in southwest and northwest Detroit today at 1:15 p.m.
Neighborhood Canvassing is part of a larger effort to increase visibility, community involvement and strengthen the partnership between city council and our citizens.
“They should not have to come to us – we should go to them,” said Pugh. “Every two weeks, I and members of my staff will be in the community - knocking on doors, engaging, informing and empowering Detroiters.”
Today, Pugh and his staff will walk neighborhoods surrounding adult entertainment clubs.
“We want to hear directly from residents who live in close proximity to these clubs,” said Pugh. “We will listen to their concerns and encourage them to attend our public hearing on ordinances to regulate sexually oriented businesses.”
